2.  JESSE SR. PHILLIPS (UNKNOWN) was born 1796 in Virginia.  He married MARY DEVIESE.  She was born 1801 in Virginia.

Notes for JESSE SR. PHILLIPS:
In 1849 the family moved to Iowa and settled in Davis Co. where they resided until the fall of 1852 and then going to Decatur Co.  After living there four years in the fall of 1856 they came to Gentry Co., Missouri and located in that portion of the county.  Afterwards included in Worth, and being among the pioneers of this section of the country.  The senior Jesse Phillips, settled on land obtained with a land warrant which he received for services in the War of 1812.

3.  UNKNOWN PHILLIPS (UNKNOWN) was born Abt. 1827 in Ohio.  He married UNKNOWN.  She was born Abt. 1827 in Ohio.

4.  DICINDA DEVIESE PHILLIPS (JESSE SR., UNKNOWN) was born July 19, 1822 in Ohio, and died September 16, 1905 in West Virginia.  She married HUGH MCTAGGART October 24, 1847 in West Virginia, son of WILLIAM MCTAGGART and JANE REED.  He was born December 01, 1819 in Scotland, and died May 28, 1909 in West Virginia.

Children of DICINDA PHILLIPS and HUGH MCTAGGART are:
i.      John McTaggart, b. October 30, 1849.
ii.      Isabelle McTaggart, b. October 09, 1851.
iii.     William Phillips McTaggart, b. May 21, 1854.
iv.     Jesse McTaggart, b. February 03, 1857.
v.      Hugh David McTaggart, b. November 11, 1858.

5.  ISAAC PHILLIPS (JESSE SR., UNKNOWN) was born 1824 in Ohio.  He married (1) NANCY HANKINS.  She died 1876.  He married (2) NANCY CRAWFORD.

It is an article on Jesse L. Phillips.

There is a brother, Isaac Phillips.  He was married twice 1. Miss Nancey Hankins who died 1876 leaving 9 children - Mrs. O.C. Barnes, Ina (deceased), Luther, Alexander, Horace, Jane, Lilly, Dora and Ellen.  2. Mrs. Nancy Crawford 4 children by Mr. F.M. Crawford and 2 children by Mr. Isaac Phillips - E. Arthur and Della E.  They lived in Worth County, Missouri; Greene Twp. and Jesse lived in Middle Fork Twp., Worth Co.

In the book "Gentry and Worth County History 1882" there is a brief item on Jesse L. Phillips on page 821.
...section 23, township 65, range 32, native of Wood County, Virginia was born March 29, 1838.  He married Miss Mary Jane Barnes, who was born in Buchanan Co., Missouri, had 8 children, Ralph H., Rufus P., Elizabeth E., John W., Lewis J., Leander and Rebecca.  Benjamin is deseased.

Notes for SAMUEL PHILLIPS:
My Grandpa tells me that Samuel, who would be his great Grandfather, lived in Blaine County around Okeene, Oklahoma.  He owned quite a bit of land.  Samuel and Mary had several children and grandchildren living in their big home.  One of Samuel's sons was a lawyer in Oklahoma City.

PHILLIPS (SAMUEL, UNKNOWN, UNKNOWN) was born 1872 in Indiana, and died Aft. 1912 in Oklahoma.  He married HANNIE MARY (MINNIE) FERBER December 12, 1888 in Ringgold County, Iowa, daughter of CHARLES FERBER and CATHERINE SUHRE.  She was born July 28, 1869 in Nebraska, and died October 19, 1955 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

James and Minnie were living in Custer, Oklahoma in 1902 according to the obit of Minnie's father.

Was told Minnie and James were divorced and James might have remarried.

James and Minnie were living in Custer, Oklahoma in 1902 according to the obit of Minnie's father.

Minnie lived to be in her 86 yrs, 2 mo's, 22 days and died in Witchita Falls, Texas.  She is buried there.

James died around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Notes for ELMER ELLSWORTH PHILLIPS:
I have not found any Ellsworth connections to this Phillips line.

I have found many people whose first name is "Elmer" and whose middle name is "Ellsworth."
During the U. S. Civil War there was a Colonel in the Union Army named, Elmer Ellsworth. This Elmer Ellsworth was killed by Confederate forces when he
crossed into Virginia and tried to remove a rebel flag.

13.  LEON CHASE PHILLIPS (RUFUS P., JESSE L., JESSE SR., UNKNOWN) was born 1890 in Worth Co., Missouri, and died 1958 in Oklahoma Co., Oklahoma.  He married MRYTLE ELLENBERGER 1916 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Served six years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and then was elected Governor of the state in 1938.
